My Bio
I'm a 23 year old from England, graduated from the University of Exeter in July 2010 and am currently working at a school in Somerset. I have a blog website as well which I work on as and when I have time.
The website is:
rafbrat.blogspot.com/

My particular interest as an artist lies in portrait work, but I'm beginning to branch out into painting and drawing other things; animals / scenes / landscapes etc. I prefer oils over acrylics any day, much more forgiving and not such a waste of paint once it's dried up! Anway, I'd love you all to comment on my work, both art and journals, and I'll happily give you feedback on your own if you'd like :)

I didn't honestly pay attention as we took the five minute walk from the drop off point to the apartment, but I can describe it now, in retrospect.  The best way for me to do this is to get you to imagine a ghetto; maybe there are rows of dumpsters littering the only communal bit of grass, or perhaps a lone man staggering along the dirt track; or pot holes that reach up to your knees.  Any of these things could have been found in the immediate vicinity of my apartment.  The blocks of flats were congregated in a square shape, with paths joining one to the next like dot-to-dot.  A rusty climbing frame had become a makeshift washing line, balcon

“You’re moving out to Russia? That’s crazy! Why don’t you go somewhere hot?”  That was the standard response I was greeted with whenever the subject of summer plans arose.  I shrugged off the comment and coolly calculated whether this particular person was merely being rhetorical or actively looking for a response.  I decided the latter.  My justification was well rehearsed and refined, giving my recipient a further opportunity to express incredulity.  I had of course told him that I was moving out to Russia for six months to study the language as part of my degree.  People never could understand why I chose Russian a

When we weren't roaming freely around the bookstore, my sister and I often accompanied our mother to the local Winn Dixie or Bruno's.  Now for some reason in a lot of the southern states of America, supermarkets, drive-throughs, cafes and restaurants are given the most ridiculous names.  'Mae's Wings and Things' leaves much to the imagination, 'No Way Jose Grill Cantina' is automatically scrubbed off the list, 'Talk of the Town Cafe' is far too arrogant for its own good, 'Back Yard Burgers' sounds like the owner has gone in search of road-kill and 'Fat Man's Smokehouse' sounds like a place to go for a large side order of lung cancer.  The Ame
